| Welcome to Lawdog Steel Helmets. I specialize in the restoration and reproduction of WWII USGI steel helmets for museums, collectors, and re-enactors
worldwide. I offer both infantry and paratrooper models, custom built and painted to your specifications, based on your particular time period needs. I use only original McCord Radiator or Schlueter WWII era front seam steel shells manufactured prior to November 1944.
Each shell is chemically stripped of years of post war paint, and then re-corked and re-painted using computer matched ultra flat, olive drab, oil based paint that is identical to the original manufacturer’s color. My own high quality materials are then used to finish each shell and liner. Our helmets are not created to fool anyone, but are instead created to honor the service and sacrifice of the young men and women who wore them over half a century ago.
As a WW2 living history educator and 101st Airborne Division re-enactor, I know firsthand how important it is that your kit be authentic to the smallest detail. If I myself wouldnt wear it at an event, I wont send it out the door. You can be assured that any helmet purchased from me will be built to exacting specifications whether it be for display, re-enacting or film work. Have your doubts?
